Sliding-Mode Control of a Quadratic Buck Converter With Constant Power Load

This paper analyzes for the first time a two-loop sliding-mode control (SMC) of high-order converter supplying constant power load (CPL). The is single-switch quadratic buck structure (QBC) interfacing domestic 380 V DC bus to CPL requiring regulated voltage 48 DC. unstable in absence and even after insertion an inner loop based on SMC input inductor current. addition appropriate linear outer establishing reference stabilizes system provides output regulation. QBC shows fast recovery with negligible overshoot response step-type changes or voltage. It also shown that implemented regulator supply can be used directly case current (CCL) resistance (CRL) resulting similar performance case. PSIM simulations experimental results 400 W prototype are good agreement theoretical predictions.
